Specialist Applied-skills Programme (SAP)Level 2

Course Content

This course is an 18-month programme requiring 25 days off-site training over 12 months, followed by up to 6 months assessment for the NVQ Level 2 Wood Occupations – Structural Post and Beam Carpentry. (CSCS Blue Card – Skilled Worker)

  1. General Health and Safety (requires CSCS test pass)
  2. Sector Induction by CITB representative
  3. Using and Maintaining Framing Hand Tools
  4. Lifting and Moving Heavy Timbers
  5. Emergency First Aid at Work
  6. PASMA Low Level Towers for users
  7. Using and Maintaining Framing Power Tools
  8. Safe Working at Heights
  9. Slinging Techniques for Lifting Heavy Timbers
  10. Scribing Timbers for Structural Timber Frames
  11. Design and Drawing for Structural Timber Frames
  12. Selecting, Converting and Visual Grading of Timber
  13. Introduction to Joint Design
  14. Setting Out Structural Timber Frames
  15. Fabricating Structural Timber Frames
  16. Site Erection of Structural Timber Frames
  17. Conservation and Repair of Timber Frames
